Each time a page on your site does not load, an error message will be shown to the website visitor. As there are different errors, there are different pages which will show up, but what is typical for all of them is that they're generic and almost certainly will have practically nothing in common with the design of your site, which may be frustrating for any site visitor. This is the reason why web hosting companies have introduced a feature known as Custom Error Pages. For a variety of different errors, visitors shall see your custom content, which may be informative or humorous, based on your taste, and which will match the overall design of your website, so the pages won't look like they're not part of your website at all. You may use this option for a variety of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting
If you obtain a Linux cloud hosting
from us, you'll be able to set custom made error pages for your Internet sites easily, since this function is a part of all our packages. Once you've created the files and uploaded them to your hosting account, you can check out the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and click on the Edit button for the specific domain or subdomain. In the pop-up that will show up, you will see drop-down menus for all four kinds of errors and for each one of them you may select an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a tailor-made page. Should you select the third option, you should just enter the URL to the file that you've uploaded then save the change. A different way to set custom error pages is to set up an .htaccess file in the domain or subdomain folder and to include several lines of code in it. In case you don't have prior experience or if you are simply unsure how to do that, you could simply copy/paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that subject.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
All of the Linux semi-dedicated hosting plans
that we offer support personalized error pages and it will not take more than a few clicks from your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to use this feature. The option is available in the Hosted Domains section of your Control Panel where you'll have to input the links to the custom-made files via very simple drop-down menus and an easy to use interface. Of course, you have to upload them to your account before that. In case you don't need to use this feature at some point, you can deactivate it just as quickly and pick an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be shown if your visitors encounter an error. If you'd prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to allow the custom made error pages. The file should include a specific line of code plus a link for each error type and you may discover an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
